Abstract

This text aims to reflect critically on the principle of justice as fairness in John Rawls as well as on some ethical-social challenges that are imposed by such a vision. It looks at equitable justice as the basis and guarantee of citizens' fundamental rights and liberties. But it calls attention to the ethical-cultural problems that such a vision may raise. The aim is to show that what is fair or legal in one culture may not be in another that is not democratic.
